JOB TITLE: Patient Accounting Associate
DEPARTMENT: Business Office
JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
Responsible to: Business Office Manager
Responsible for: No other employees
Interrelationships: Works cooperatively with all hospital departments, Medical
Staff, patients, and visitors.
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for registrations and accepting/posting of patient payments. Assists the
collection clerk with payment plans, approving statements, and filing secondary
Medicaid claims.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Previous Business Office experience in a hospital setting preferred, including computer proficiency.
Education: High School or equivalent required. Experience in credit and collections desirable. Bookkeeping experience helpful.

JOB DUTIES (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
File Medicaid claims
Complete registration including scanning of insurance cards and ensuring all information is correct.
Approves patients statements.
Logging and posting of daily patient payments.
Visit with patient(s) regarding the Sponsored Care program.
Setting up payment plans, discuss inquiries on patient bills.
Responsible for assisting the collection clerk with year end audit of maximum allowable write-offs.
Assists the collection clerk with receiving and maintaining the files of delinquent accounts and place accounts with collection agency.
Attend required meetings.
