Job Description

Gastro Center of Maryland is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Pathology Lab Assistant to support our pathology lab during a high-volume afternoon workflow. This role is critical in helping our team manage a large daily caseload efficiently and accurately.

With cases from multiple sites being processed simultaneously, this position will take ownership of key workflow tasks to reduce strain on the lab team and support smooth daily operations.

What You'll Do

Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

Accessioning midday and overnight pathology case loads Entering gross descriptions and supporting grossing workflow Managing send-out cases, including additional stains and deeper level requests Order entry and fulfillment Performing daily equipment checks Restocking lab supplies and reagents Performing routine stainer maintenance (H&E stainer, APBAS area, Trichrome) Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized laboratory environment Emptying shredder/recycle bins as needed Supporting histotechnologists with daily lab operations Completing miscellaneous duties as needed to support laboratory and business needs

Required Skills

Basic math skills Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Proficiency with PC-based software (word processing and spreadsheets) Physical ability to move objects up to approximately 50 lbs Reliable transportation
Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum 1 year of experience in a fast-paced operations or workflow-driven environment Prior experience in a scientific or pathology lab preferred Vocational training in laboratory sciences or an AA/AS in biological sciences is a plus

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
