Description:

Saint Mary's Hospital, Lab Waterbury, CTPosition Purpose

The Pathology Laboratory Assistant is responsible for collection, triaging, delivery, accessioning, quality and tracking of all incoming gross pathology specimens.



What you will do



Correctly identify specimens, registers, accessions and tracks, and delivers to appropriate location/department including send out testing. Ensures appropriate handling of blocks, specimens, and cassettes. Assists with frozen sections, assists with FNA's, processes Pap Smears and other procedures

Minimum Qualifications



High school diploma or equivalent Pathology laboratory or gross room experience preferred Excellent computer knowledge and medical/lab terminology; lab safety, infection control, quality policies and procedures and Lab Information System Attention to detail as aspects of job require working with potentially hazardous materials
