Status

: Part-Time (23 hours/week): Anticipated duration 18-24 months.

Church Overview

: BRC is a Reformed Church in America (RCA) church that has 48 members and about 27 adherents. We average about 25 people in attendance between in-person and online, plus a few who view services later. The congregation is primarily an older congregation and primarily white. Our latest pastor was in his second pastorate and was with us for nine years. During that time we continued our traditional worship along with adult education and outreach/holiday events. Also during this time the church-owned nursery school has been very successful and we are trying to involve those families in the church. Though we have a healthy endowment, our long-term financial stability remains a challenge. We also have a population who are less available than previously to do the work of the church. We are considering the appropriateness of having a full-time vs part-time pastor. We are seeking a Transitional Pastor who can guide us through the process of understanding who we are, finding a future pastor, and creating a clear vision for a sustainable future including balancing our financial reality with our desires. A parsonage across the street from the church is available.

Position Description:

The Transitional Pastor will provide worship leadership, pastoral care and walk with us through the traditional transitional tasks: coming to grips with our history, reconnecting to the Classis, reviewing our organizational structure, conducting a self-study and looking forward to our future together.

Leadership and Transitional Work:

? Attend monthly Consistory meetings as President and Supervisor, work with VP to chart the course of the church.

? Encourage and Empower the Consistory in their leadership of the congregation.

? Pray for, respond to requests from and give encouragement to committees/teams. Attend when needed and able.

? Work through the traditional transitional tasks above.

Pastoral Attention to the Congregation

? Prepare and lead worship services with musicians and lay leaders.

? Provide pastoral care to church members.

? Administer the sacraments of communion and baptism, and conducts weddings and funerals as requested.

NJ State Salary Description:

Salary will be determined using the current Delaware-Raritan Classis Compensation Guide. The salary will be pro-rated for the number of contracted hours per week, based on years of the candidate's experience and the congregation size. The full-time (50 hours per week) range for 2026 is $62,250 - $92,755. At 23 hours/week contracted, that would be a salary of $28,635 to $42,668.

The position includes the use of a parsonage across the street from the church, or provision of a housing allowance (pro-rated).

The position includes 30 days paid vacation including 4 Sundays, with the number of days pro-rated for weekly hours. It also includes 1 week for Continuing Professional Education plus 1/52 of salary for that purpose.

The position includes medical, group life, and long-term disability insurance. Medical insurance includes the pastor's immediate family. Arrangements can be made for those receiving insurance from another source.
