The Good Hound is an off-leash hiking and dog training company serving Newton, MA, and the surrounding area. We specialize in providing enriching weekly off-leash hikes, puppy and obedience training, and pet care services.

Position Overview

We're seeking a dedicated dog lover to join our team as a full-time Off-Leash Dog Hiker. This role involves taking small groups of dogs on safe, engaging hikes, using positive training techniques, and communicating effectively with team members and clients. We are looking for someone who is looking for a long-term role (not just a summer-job!).

Key Responsibilities

Safely transport and supervise groups of 3-5 dogs on off-leash hikes. Utilize training techniques to manage and support polite dog behavior. Build trust and strong relationships with dogs and their owners. Communicate daily updates about hikes, behavior, and any issues. Occasionally assist with pet sitting or boarding (If you are able to - not required).

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

Availability

Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-2:00 PM.

Residency within

30 minutes of Newton, MA.

A valid driver's license and clean driving record. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. A car to transport 3-5 dogs

Preferred Qualities:

Previous experience in dog care (doggy daycare, dog walking, training, etc.). Strong communication, time-management, and teamwork skills. Positive attitude, reliability, and love for the outdoors. Interest in learning and using training tools.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
