About us Clean Water Lab is a small business in Columbus, NC. Our lab provides water and food safety testing for the western NC and SC community. We work closely with local farmers to meet their Gap certifications and provide environmental swabbing services. We also provide analytical testing of well and surface water for homeowners and home inspectors. Our lab is certified by the NC Dept. of Health and Human Services for nitrates and microbial analysis of drinking water. Our work environment includes:

Our company is looking for a part-time Laboratory Technician to help with all daily laboratory testing. The part time schedule is flexible with hours and days worked. Can be as little as two days a week to four days depending on how you would like to earn hours. There is no strict hour minimum as long as the work gets done. We are open to summer internships and can work with class requirements. The right candidate will be responsible for routine laboratory procedures, maintenance and calibration of equipment, performing quality control checks, and communicating results to clients. Responsibilities:
  • Prepare reagents and solutions for experimentation, including pipetting lysis and assay.
  • Prepare culture media for enrichment.
  • Label samples for ease of identification according to protocol.
  • Operate scientific instruments like autoclaves, pipettes, incubators, and spectrophotometers.
  • Maintain equipment and logs according to established operating guidelines.
  • Prepare stock cultures of BSL2 pathogens and preparing positive controls.
  • Communicate with Lab Director to ensure smooth operation of lab procedures.
  • Answer phones and speak with clients about results.
  • Safely handle material using the proper PPE.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in life sciences or relatable field
  • > 1 year of laboratory experience
  • > 1 year of food safety testing experience
  • > 1 year of experience with biotech testing methods
  • Excellent communication skills
Job Types: Part-time, Internship Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour Benefits:
