For nearly 50 years, the Children's Community Development Center (CCDC) has been a leader in early childhood education, known for its deeply play-based, child-centered approach. Position Summary

CCDC is seeking a Part-Time Infant Teacher to join our caring, collaborative teaching team. This educator will support the social-emotional, physical, and cognitive development of infants (approx. 3-18 months) while building strong relationships with families and colleagues. The ideal candidate is nurturing, joyful, developmentally knowledgeable, and committed to CCDC's play-based philosophy.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 12:30 PM-5:30 PM (Part-time, 25 hours per week)

Child Development & Responsive Care

Provide warm, attuned, relationship-based care that supports secure attachment. Observe and respond to each infant's cues, rhythms, and individual needs. Support developmentally appropriate, sensory-rich experiences that nurture curiosity, movement, exploration, and early communication. Promote a safe, inclusive, nurturing environment where each child feels known, valued, and supported.

Daily Classroom Support

Support the teaching team in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment. Assist with nap transitions, creating calm routines and meeting individual sleep needs. Support meal and snack times, ensuring responsive, unhurried, warm feeding practices. Help prepare materials, tidy learning spaces, and support smooth classroom flow throughout the afternoon.

The CCDC Way (Teaching & Learning)

Uphold a play-based, child-driven approach prioritizing exploration, open-ended materials, and outdoor experiences. Encourage movement, floor time, and physical development through natural exploration. Support early language, relationships, and brain development through songs, stories, and rich interactions. Maintain beautiful, organized, inviting spaces that reflect children's growth and learning.

Professional Responsibilities

Uphold all CT OEC licensing standards, including supervision, safety, and health practices. Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and strong communication skills. Build collaborative partnerships with families through daily communication, warmth, and transparency. Participate in team meetings, professional development, and reflective practice with colleagues.

Qualifications

A warm, patient, joyful approach to caregiving and early learning. Interest in and commitment to play-based, child-centered education. Ability to lift, sit on the floor, stand for long periods, and follow licensing safety practices. Willingness to learn and grow as part of a collaborative teaching team. Experience working with infants in an early childhood or childcare setting preferred. Familiarity with emergent curriculum or relationship-based care models preferred. Understanding of CT DOTS or similar documentation tools preferred (training provided).

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 per week
