This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,508 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits.
This position is responsible for performing routine grounds maintenance of County facilities.
Essential Duties
Mows and trims grass, shrubs and trees, pulls weeds, and applies fertilizers, herbicides and chemicals to landscape and indoor plants
Assists in maintaining the overall safety of grounds and equipment for public and County use
Maintains indoor plants
Picks up trash, recyclables, and other debris from grounds
Operates lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, and other equipment and performs basic maintenance
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
Other Job Requirements/Information
This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
The ideal incumbent will be knowledgeable and skilled in:
+ Grounds maintenance principles and practices
+ Ground maintenance equipment
+ Fertilizers, herbicides, and other grounds maintenance chemicals
+ Basic landscape principles
+ Basic maintenance of indoor plants
+ Performing grounds maintenance
+ Operating grounds maintenance equipment
+ Trimming trees, shrubs and other vegetation
+ Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc., sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
Hourly rate
Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D and
One year of grounds maintenance experience using commercial lawn care equipment or
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
Valid driver's license from state of residency
