Title: Part-Time Food Service Worker Hiring Range: Commensurate up to $18.35 per hour Pay Band: 2 Agency: Department of Juvenile Justice Location: Bon Air JCC Agency Website: https://www.djj.virginia.gov/pages/admin/human-resources.htm Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties In this part-time role, you will prepare food for residents and staff in accordance with the master menu guidelines. Maintain kitchens and dining hall cleanliness, sanitation, and safety. Follow guidelines to ensure serving temperatures and adequate portion control. Cook and prepare food according to established procedures and standardized recipes. Perform preparation duties such as rinsing, peeling, slicing, and dicing meats, fruits, and vegetables. Serving residents and staff in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. Follow preparation and serving schedules for all meals and snacks daily. Complete all daily paperwork accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely matter. Complying with relevant safety, hygiene, and service standards and procedures. Supervise and train the residents working in the kitchen and dining hall. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of correct methods of storage and inventory. Knowledge of correct nutritional standards and how they are enforced. Demonstrated ability to forecast needs for food products and fully utilize any leftover foods. Ability to supervise residents working in the kitchen and dining hall. Ability to read, write, follow, and give directions. Document temperatures of food being prepared and served and equipment.
