Job Summary

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated caregiver for a 22 year old female in NW Portland seeks a supportive DSP Thursday and Friday 2-7pm, and Saturday or Sunday 2-7pm. Roughly 15 hours a week. Client enjoys reading storybooks, swinging in the backyard, watching TV, and watching videos on her tablet. DSP will assist with toileting, meal and snack service, and recreation/entertainment assistance, and will need to be able to support challenging behaviors. Integrated care with a supportive family and ongoing guidance and coaching can be provided via behavioral and SLP therapists. There are dogs, but no smoking in the home.

Duties

Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management. Provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities and those experiencing dementia, ensuring their unique needs are met. Foster a positive environment by encouraging social interactions and participation in community activities. Maintain documentation of care provided, adhering to HIPAA regulations and resident rights. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other staff to develop and implement individualized care plans. Monitor and report any changes in residents' physical or emotional conditions to the appropriate personnel. Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote cognitive function and emotional well-being.

Qualifications

Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a group home setting is preferred. Knowledge of dementia care practices is an asset. Familiarity with resident rights and HIPAA regulations is essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients. Compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality care. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative when needed. Previous experience as a nurse or in a healthcare-related field is a plus but not required.
