Duties
Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures by preparing animals and equipment, ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained.
Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques, including dog handling, animal restraint, and animal husbandry practices.
Perform laboratory tasks such as sample collection, processing, and analysis to support diagnostic efforts.
Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with pet dental care routines.
Conduct animal catheterization, X-ray procedures, and other critical care interventions with precision and care.
Care for animals in kennels or cages, ensuring cleanliness, comfort, and proper pet grooming standards are maintained.
Maintain detailed records of animal treatments, laboratory results, and procedural notes following veterinary terminology standards.
Support pet owners by providing education on pet care, animal physiology, and post-treatment instructions.
Ensure all equipment is sterilized using proper aseptic techniques and that the clinic environment adheres to safety protocols.
Requirements
Previous kennel experience or animal handling background is highly desirable.
Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology is essential.
Experience with veterinary critical care procedures and laboratory work enhances your candidacy.
Familiarity with dental terminology and pet grooming techniques is a plus.
Ability to perform animal catheterization and restraint confidently while maintaining safety for both animals and staff.
Strong understanding of X-ray operation and interpretation is beneficial.
Excellent dog handling skills along with general animal husbandry expertise are required.
Prior veterinary technician experience or related certifications will be considered an advantage.
