We are a rural, single-doctor veterinary practice looking for a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist to join our team part time. While our clinic is small and still growing, we stay very busy and need someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and teamwork skills, a passion for animal care, and--preferably--experience in veterinary practices. As the first point of contact for our clients, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and positive experience for both pets and their owners.
Hours
Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays 7:45am - 5pm
Responsibilities
Greet clients and their pets with warmth and professionalism, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's calendar efficiently.
Handle medical collections and process payments accurately.
Maintain accurate patient records, including medical history and treatment plans.
Assist veterinarians with patient check-ins and check-outs.
Provide information to clients regarding pet care, services offered, and general veterinary advice.
Manage inventory of supplies and assist in maintaining a clean and organized reception area.
Utilize veterinary terminology effectively to communicate with clients and staff.
Support animal handling during examinations or procedures as needed.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a veterinary receptionist is preferred but we're willing to train.
Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and pet care practices is preferred.
Experience with medical collection processes is an asset.
Familiarity with animal husbandry, dog handling, animal restraint, and aseptic techniques is advantageous.
Background in kennel work or veterinary critical care experience is highly desirable.
Laboratory experience or equine/large animal knowledge can be beneficial but is not mandatory.
Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
