Prevent Blindness North Carolina (PBNC) is a nonprofit dedicated to improving eye health and preventing blindness through community-based services, education, and advocacy. Since 1967, we have served the state of North Carolina as an affiliate of the 117 year-old, national organization, Prevent Blindness.

About the Role



We are seeking a candidate to perform

Retinal Vision Screenings

based in Greenville, NC or nearby communities as part of our team supporting vision and eye health across the state. Experience with retinal imaging is not necessary, but a candidate with high attention to detail, fluency with computers, and a strong ability to learn new technology is a must. The work is done at sites across your region like Community Clincs, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and other locations where North Carolinians receive health care.

Job Overview



Most screenings will take place within a

90-minute radius of Greenville, NC

, with occasional statewide travel. Average of

12-14 hours per week

, not exceeding 20 hours/week on average. Flexible scheduling when possible, but priority is given to patient center needs. Paid time begins when leaving home and ends when returning home, plus reporting/upload time. Guaranteed

2 hours minimum pay per scheduled screening day

. Mileage reimbursed at

$0.70/mile

(subject to annual review). Occasional overnight stays required; hotel costs reimbursed per PBNC's travel policy.

Responsibilities & Duties



Travel to screening sites and set up PBNC equipment. Conduct patient risk assessments prior to imaging. Capture retinal images using PBNC cameras. Maintain a professional and supportive demeanor with staff and patients. Occasionally educate patients or staff on eye health topics as directed by PBNC. Securely upload images for review by PBNC partner doctors. Complete all required reporting and accurate weekly payroll time logs. Participate in regular performance reviews and follow PBNC policies. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications



Computer and internet skills; proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle. Ability to lift

40 pounds or more

. Organized and detail-oriented; strong time management skills. Private internet access (no public Wi-Fi) for secure uploads.
Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
