Launched during the Prohibition Era as the Sir Francis Drake, the fully renovated hotel offers today's travelers a new way to visit San Francisco. Its 418 rooms and thoughtful shared spaces bring modern design to life with restored architectural details. Guests are looked after by the hotel's novel Social Hosts, who create a warm, convivial atmosphere as they facilitate stays that are personally tailored, unique, and full of discovery. Inside, visitors and locals mix and mingle in the communal living room and lively gathering spot, The Post Room and the iconic Starlite. With everything from walkable shops and restaurants to cable cars outside the front door, the central and connected Union Square location is the perfect home base for exploring San Francisco.



We are actively searching for a

Part-Time Host

Role Overview: The Host serves as the first and last point of contact for guests, exemplifying hospitality, professionalism, and safety. This role manages reservations and wait times, coordinates seating with the front-of-house team, and ensures every guest enjoys a seamless, memorable experience.


Key Responsibilities


+ Create a warm, inclusive, and energetic environment for both locals and travelers.
+ Greet guests, escort them to tables, present menus, and offer tailored recommendations as needed.
+ Maintain a consistently high standard of hospitality, ensuring guests feel welcomed and valued from arrival to departure.
+ Recognize regulars and VIPs; communicate relevant details to the team.
+ Clearly convey Starlite's service style and ambiance to guests.
+ Manage reservations and the waitlist using the designated system; provide accurate wait times.
+ Notify guests promptly when tables are ready; assist with beverage transfers within the bar when moving guests.
+ Share guest preferences and special requests with the FOH team, servers, and managers.
+ Coordinate seating with awareness of table turns, event needs, and floor dynamics.
+ Alert managers to guest dissatisfaction, disruptive behavior, or signs of intoxication promptly.
+ Maintain a clean, organized host stand and entry area at all times.
Qualifications

+ 1+ year of hospitality experience.
+ Familiarity with standard restaurant service procedures and floor roles.
+ Understanding of Starlite's hospitality philosophy, menus, and beverage program (or willingness to learn quickly).
+ Punctual, reliable, and consistent in follow-through.
+ Availability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment

+ Standing and walking for the entirety of the shift.
+ Frequent reaching, bending, and stooping.
+ Regular handling and carrying of items.
+ Ability to lift and move at least 25 pounds throughout the shift.
