Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Part Time Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and supporting various accounting functions. This position offers flexibility for candidates looking to contribute their bookkeeping expertise while balancing other commitments. Your expertise in accounting software and financial concepts will be instrumental in ensuring our financial operations run smoothly and efficiently. The range of hours fluctuates, with the first 10 days of each month being on the higher end. Bulk of work will be done remotely, with 1 required on site visit per week to collect and leave hard copies of documents as needed.
The bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, in accordance with company policies and procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Key responsibilities include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Expense Transactions, Point of Sale Receipts and Deposits, online donation revenue reconciliation and entry, and General Journal Entries.
Accounts Payable:
Timely review, entry and payment processing of all invoices and fees, including contract veterinary payments.
Timely review and entry of all debit card transactions.
Timely review and entry of all automated payments.
Maintain records/files.
Accounts Receivable:
In coordination with management, monthly preparation and distribution of customer invoices, in keeping with contract budgets and invoice requirements.
Timely review and entry of all AR receipts.
Maintain budget tracking spreadsheets and provide timely updates to management.
Expense Tracking:
Review, download, and post Debit Card and Automatic Payment Transactions, including online purchases such as Amazon.
General Journal Entries:
Includes entries of daily POS transactions typically done once a week), monthly reconciliation and posting of donated income, and transfer of PayPal funds.
Posting (at least weekly) of Point of Sale Transactions and related deposits.
-Reconciliation preparation for ED/BoD.
AJEs as directed.
Financial Reporting
Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly financial reports as directed.
Annual Reporting and Audit
Work closely with staff and external accounting firm for the preparation, review and submission of 990 Annual Report and NM required Audit. Includes uploading required documentation and responding to all requests and meeting with the accounting firm.
Preferred Competencies:
At least 2 years bookkeeping experience including AP, AR and GL. Nonprofit experience a plus, but not required.
Quickbooks Accounting strongly preferred, online experience a plus.
Understanding of BASIC accounting principles/GAAP.
Exceptional attention to detail, ability to self manage and direct.
Basic understanding of MS Suite (particularly Excel) and Google Workspace.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
