About this position:



Under the supervision of the Park Ranger 1, this position assists and contributes to all aspects of Park's operations. The Park Aide will perform a variety of tasks to include routine facility cleaning and maintenance, ground and equipment maintenance, and customer service in the park(s).



This position is not eligible to telework, as physical on-site presence is required to perform essential functions.



We are a dedicated and supportive team at Riverside State Park! You will help in the day-to-day duties with Bowl and Pitcher campground, Equestrian campground, and assist on occasion with several other day use areas that are open year-round which includes snow plowing and snow removal in the winter months. Duties

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

Facilities Maintenance:





Daily routine, inspect and clean comfort stations, CXTs and lodge using appropriate chemical cleaners. Following posted cleaning procedures to cleans toilets, urinals, sinks, walls, shower stalls, floors, etc. Restocks paper supplies and empties garbage cans as needed. Routinely inspects and cleans other park facilities including park shop areas, picnic shelter, and contact station. Hauls garbage with park pick-up, litter pick-up, cleans campsites, group camps, and picnic sites with hand tools.

Grounds Maintenance:



Maintains park lawns areas at least once per week. Operates a riding mower, push mower, weed trimmers, backpack blowers, and other power and hand tools. Perform grounds maintenance work, such as trimming trees, shrubs, and other vegetation using chainsaws, hedge trimmers, and appropriate hand tools. Maintains, inspects, and repairs trail system using appropriate power and hand tools.

Equipment Maintenance:



Maintains, cleans, and inspects vehicles, power and hand tools that are assigned or used by employees to complete assigned tasks.

Public Relations and Reservation Check-In:



Provides excellent public service by providing park visitors information and answering questions regarding park facilities, park rules and regulations, park passes, reservations, and local attractions/events. Reports violations or other problems to park rangers, communicating on the parks radio and answering the parks main phone lines. Cross trained to work in the park contact station, registering campers and selling park passes and/or other merchandise, as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



Must be a minimum of 17 years old. Possess a valid (unrestricted) driver's license. - If your DL is out of state (other than WA State), you will be required to show proof of a valid and current unrestricted driver's license at the time of the interview.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

First aid and CPR certified.

The ability to perform facilities and grounds maintenance involving physical labor, lifting, bending, and operating equipment for extended periods in varying weather conditions.

A demonstrated ability to perform routine tasks with precision, such as following cleaning procedures ensuring all areas (toilets, sinks, campsites) are fully cleaned, stocked, and inspected thoroughly.


Equipment Operation and Safety Consciousness:

A demonstrated ability to safely and frequently follow safety protocols while using power tools (riding mowers, chainsaws, weed trimmers, backpack blowers) and hand tools.

Interpersonal Communications and Customer Service:

The skill to clearly and professionally communicate with park visitors, colleagues, and supervisors through various channels, including in-person, over the phone, and on the park's radio system.

Initiative and Work Ethic (Reliability):

Proactive in managing daily responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Requirements:



Uniform Information:

All permanent Park Aides are required to wear a uniform. A complete and properly worn uniform helps establish the professional identity of a Park Aide and promotes respect as a Washington State Parks employee. All non-permanent Park Aides will receive 2 shirts, 1 baseball cap, and a clothing stipend of $75.00 per calendar year. Some positions may qualify for a $150 clothing stipend depending on the length of the position. Clothing stipends are intended to offset the cost of clothing worn in the workplace such as pants, boots, raingear, etc.



Working Conditions:

Position works five (5) days a week; Core work hours are typically 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Work schedules are expected to be adjusted based on business needs and often require weekend work. A flexible work schedule may be considered at incumbent's request and is subject to supervisory approval. Incumbent is expected to maintain regular and reliable attendance to accommodate office and customer demands. Travel and overnight travel may be required periodically between parks and/or statewide for meetings, training, and other field work. Travel will be necessary in all types of weather conditions and climates.
