ABOUT PARENTING AZ



CPLC Parenting Arizona promotes strong families empowering parents with the skills and resources they need to raise healthy and successful children. As a child's first and most important teacher, parents receive the tools and techniques they need to help their children through our Parents as Teachers curriculum and monthly visits. This programming is available in Yuma, Sierra Vista, Globe, Hopi, Flagstaff, Winslow, the Navajo Reservation, and the Havasupai Reservation through First Things First and MIECHV.





SCHEDULE:



In-person in the Havasupai Reservation. Full-time, Monday-Friday. May include evenings/weekends for events.





HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?



As a Parent Educator, you'll play a vital role in shaping brighter futures for families in the Havasupai Reservation. You'll conduct in-home visitation services using the Parents as Teachers curriculum-helping parents become their child's first and best teacher.


You'll guide families through every step of early childhood development, providing tools, encouragement, and evidence-based education to promote healthy growth and strong relationships. You'll also connect families with community resources and provide support in areas like behavioral health, development, and family well-being.


Under the supervision of the Program Manager, you'll ensure high-quality services by maintaining accurate records, participating in reflective supervision, supporting quality improvement efforts, and fostering positive relationships with families and community partners.


WHO YOU ARE:




You are strengths-based and family-centered. You hold a genuine belief in every parent's ability to grow. You are skilled at identifying family strengths, setting goals, and advocating for resources. You know where to locate community resources and how to connect families to needed services (e.g., social services, behavioral health, developmental disability supports). You understand infant/child development, parent-child attachment, behavioral health dynamics, and child abuse/neglect, You are nonjudgmental, objective, reflective, empathic, patient, and tactful, able to interact with all people from different backgrounds. You are self-motivated and independent, but can collaborate effectively with teammates, leadership, community partners as needed. You value communication, organization, and adaptability to best meet the needs of each family and child.




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS




Bilingual (English and Spanish/Navajo/Hopi/Supai) desired. GED or high school diploma. At least 2 years' experience working with individuals or communities from culturally and economically diverse backgrounds. Education or training in a related field such as child development, family studies, psychology, social work, or similar preferred. Must possess a valid Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance card or obtain prior to start of employment. Complete CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days of hire and maintain certifications throughout employment.
