Reports To: Building Principal Position Purpose: Provide elementary school students with instructional support in reading, working with students individually and in groups using intervention strategies.
Qualifications:
Requires 48 college credit hours or pass the state - mandated Paraprofessional test
Skills in the use of computers
Good interpersonal skills including the ability to work with minimal supervision
Good organizational skills
Ability to successfully accomplish/complete the annual professional development training
Conscientiously accept and follow directions
Adaptable to a variety of situations
Physical/Emotional Requirements: The incumbent may be required to use the following requirements during any part of the working day: Speaking, hearing, visual, reading, writing, word processing, mobility, consistency of temperament, ability to work with a variety of problems at the same time, stamina for working long hours and in stress producing environments.
Responsibilities may include:
Assist teachers with daily instruction
Assist students in achieving their individual objectives
Work with small groups of students to learn or reinforce materials as directed by the teacher
Perform clerical duties and record keeping as assigned by the teacher.
Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher
Access communication and instructional resources and support student use of computers
Participate in professional development training programs
Communicates effectively with supervising teacher about classroom and student issues, and communicates with students in a manner that supports learning.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Support students with developing social and behavioral skills
Terms of Employment: 9 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy on evaluation of Classified Personnel. Significant Associations: The performance responsibilities are not limited to those outlined in this description and may include any other responsibilities as assigned by the administrator/supervisor.
