Position Overview



We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to work directly alongside West Virginia Child Protective Services (CPS). This is a

field-based position

that requires daily travel across the state. The paraprofessional will provide critical support in maintaining child safety and family well-being by facilitating supervised visitations, providing transportation, assisting with safety services, and participating in multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings and court hearings.

This role is best suited for individuals who are highly reliable, professional, and passionate about child welfare.

Key Responsibilities



Supervised Visitations:

Monitor and document parent/child interactions during court-ordered supervised visits. Ensure a safe, structured, and supportive environment. Provide accurate, objective reports of visitation outcomes.

Safety Services:

Assist CPS in implementing safety plans for children at risk. Conduct wellness and safety checks as directed. Communicate safety concerns promptly to CPS staff.

Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Participation:

Attend and contribute to MDT meetings as required. Collaborate with CPS workers, law enforcement, medical staff, and other professionals to ensure child welfare goals are met.

Court Attendance:

Appear in family court as needed. Provide factual testimony and written reports to support CPS casework.

Transportation Services:

Safely transport children and families to and from appointments, visitations, court hearings, and other required locations. Maintain professional boundaries and ensure safety at all times.

Documentation & Reporting:

Prepare detailed, timely, and accurate case notes, reports, and logs. Submit documentation in accordance with CPS policies and state requirements.

Qualifications



High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or related field strongly preferred. Valid West Virginia driver's license and reliable, insured vehicle. Ability to travel extensively within West Virginia (position is

100% road-based

). Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in stressful situations. Must be able to pass background checks and drug screenings per state requirements.

Compensation



Pay Rate:

$21.00 - $36.00 per hour (based on education level, certifications, and relevant experience). Mileage reimbursement provided. Flexible scheduling may be available, depending on case assignments.

Work Environment



This position is

entirely field-based

, requiring travel throughout West Virginia. Work settings include homes, community spaces, offices, and courtrooms. Frequent interaction with children and families in sensitive or stressful situations.
