SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Elementary School Paraprofessional plays a vital role in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of young learners. Working closely with classroom teachers, the paraprofessional provides essential instructional and behavioral support to ensure all students have access to meaningful educational experiences.
This position involves assisting with lesson implementation, working with small groups or individual students to reinforce learning objectives, and adapting materials to meet diverse student needs. The paraprofessional also plays a key role in classroom management, helping maintain a structured and supportive environment that promotes student engagement and success.
Beyond the classroom, the Elementary School Paraprofessional supervises students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other non-instructional activities, ensuring their safety and well-being. The paraprofessional acts as a compassionate mentor and advocate for students, building positive relationships and fostering a sense of belonging within the school community.
The ideal candidate demonstrates patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills, enabling them to effectively collaborate with teachers, staff, and families. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS: Experience, Education, & Licensure
An associate's degree or higher with coursework in Early Childhood Education.
Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint card is required for all Charter Employees.
Valid certificate in CPR and first aid, HIV training, child abuse and neglect training, training on emergency preparedness, have a TB test to meet state health requirements, and have a current food handler's card.
Experience working with children and special needs students.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with educational software.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Develop an indoor and outdoor learning environment that provides a variety of age-appropriate experiences to foster child exploration and discovery.
2. Use a curriculum framework and curriculum tools that provide opportunities for each child to meet learning expectations that prepare children for success in school.
3. Establish a daily routine that includes time for small groups and large group activities, encourages creative expression, and incorporates health and nutritional development as part of daily activities.
4. Model appropriate and respectful behavior to the children and fellow staff.
5. Work with parents to plan culturally appropriate curriculum that supports children's learning styles and interests.
6. Support children's social and emotional development through positive child guidance approaches and the development of positive relationships in the classroom.
7. Participate in lesson planning sessions, and communicating with parents and school officials.
8. Co-teaching lessons under the Teacher's guidance, leading small groups or individual instruction and discussions, and reviewing classwork.
9. Organizing the classroom and teaching materials, monitoring the classroom during lessons, and minimizing distractions and disruptions.
10. Supervising students in and out of the classroom.
11. Attending to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs.
12. Helping Teachers and students with extracurricular activities and school functions.
13. Performing clerical duties, such as tracking student attendance, typing, filing, photocopying, and grading tests and homework.
14. Ensuring the upkeep of educational materials, equipment, and supplies.
15. Tracking students' progress and preparing reports for the parents.
16. Assisting Teachers in counseling parents on the requirements and development of their children.
17. Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned.
