WHAT WILL THIS JOB ENTAIL?
Screen potential clients for eligibility for Ayuda's services, under the supervision of attorneys and,
Communicate with clients by phone to confirm appointments with USCIS, courts, and Ayuda attorneys
Obtain documents from courts and law enforcement agencies as necessary
Assist attorneys with preparing and drafting documents, including correspondence, immigration forms, client declarations, and court filings;
File and serve documents as required in court cases;
Maintain client information and documents using internal database and funder databases;
Work with organizational partners to arrange dates and locations for educational outreach presentations concerning legal services provided by Ayuda;
Coordinate outreach and referrals to and from organizational partners to ensure potential clients are aware of and able to access Ayuda's services;
Provide front-desk coverage as needed when Ayuda's intake specialist is out of the office;
Assist with monthly grant reports required by the funder, including but not limited to data collection, entry and regular reporting
Conduct legal screenings for individuals and coordinate with staff attorney for follow-up services, including additional interviewing, Pro Se Workshop participation or Pro Bono placement.
Help prepare individuals for hearings before EOIR and DHS.
Coordinate Pro se workshops to help individuals prepare and submit applications and documents before EOIR and DHS.
Help place cases for long term representation with pro bono attorneys.
Work with the Pro Bono team to coordinate and implement virtual or in-person brief advice and referral immigration legal clinics including logistical planning, pro bono volunteer recruitment and training.
Ensure efficient placement of pro bono cases and adequate follow up through regular communication with clients and pro bono partners
Collaborate with Ayuda's Social Services staff to ensure provision of holistic services.
Participate in internal and external conferences, meetings, and trainings as needed; and
Provide other administrative/paralegal support as assigned

Eligibility Requirements: Must be legally able to work in the United States and maintain proper work authorization throughout employment. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position presented in a general office environment. Must receive satisfactory results from a background check to include criminal history, a search of the employee's name against a national registry of sex offenders, and a search of Child Protective Service records.

Experience working with low-income immigrants, even on a volunteer basis, preferred.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The anticipated salary for this position is
$56,000-$68,000
, depending on experience. For example, a candidate with two years of relevant work experience would receive a salary of $59,000.
