About the Role



Healy & Jordan, PLLC is hiring a dependable, experienced

Paralegal / Legal Assistant

to support attorneys and senior paralegals in both

civil and criminal

matters at our downtown Gulfport office.

This role is best suited for a candidate with prior paralegal experience who enjoys working within a structured, collaborative team. You'll handle meaningful legal work under the direction of senior paralegals and attorneys, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and professional communication throughout each case. Our ideal hire is organized, adaptable, and confident managing multiple active files while keeping client communication clear and consistent.

Key Responsibilities



Draft legal documents including discovery responses, oppositions to motions, substitutions of attorney, and general correspondence Communicate with courts, clients, and opposing counsel to schedule depositions, court hearings, mediations, and trials Prepare legal templates and forms for attorney review Organize and maintain case files (digital and physical) Track deadlines and ensure timely filings Provide general litigation and administrative support to attorneys and senior paralegals

Qualifications



3+ years

of legal assistant or paralegal experience preferred (especially in family law, civil litigation, personal injury, or criminal law) Ability to draft legal documents independently (without relying solely on templates) Comfortable with Microsoft Office, PDFs, and learning new systems (Clio a plus) Experience handling sensitive or confidential legal information Excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability Familiarity with legal terminology, court procedures, and case progression in civil, domestic, or criminal matters

Associate's degree or certificate in paralegal studies, criminal justice, or related field Experience supporting multiple attorneys or managing multi-practice caseloads Familiarity with Mississippi court procedures in civil, domestic, or personal injury matters

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
