Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.
A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations
Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this position exists is to perform interior and exterior paint tasks on commercial buildings and structures for the City of Montgomery. The work responsibilities of the position are: evaluates paint needs and prepares to paint surfaces; applies finishes such as paint to surfaces; maintains all equipment, tools, and work areas; in the absence of the paint supervisor, supervises personnel; performs administrative related duties; and contributes to department objectives. The Painter receives supervision from the Paint Crew Foreman.
Minimum Qualifications

Must have two (2) years of experience performing skilled painting tasks.

Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Special Requirements
------------------------
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Alabama driver's license as needed to operate a motor vehicle to perform painting tasks at various locations with the City of Montgomery. Ability to work flexible hours, evenings, nights and weekends as needed to complete projects. Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
