Your Opportunity

This position\'s primary goal is to build the airport design business within California and the Pacific Region with a focus on Airport Infrastructure Projects in various phases of development from Planning through Project Management/Construction Management.

The position will require a strategic planning focus, knowledge of the local aviation transportation market, strong communication skills and an ability to collaborate. This position will serve as part of the leadership team for the Pacific Region Transportation Group and will report to the US West Airport Infrastructure Leader and will require close coordination with the US West Regional Business Leader and the US Airport Infrastructure Sector Leader.

Your Key Responsibilities

Business Development on Specific Key Airport Opportunities

A major responsibility of this position is strategic planning, identifying specific opportunities and teaming partners, executing a strong pursuit process, and ultimately winning key pursuits in the California and Pacific Region. Responsibilities include:

Commitment to the consistent use of Stantec\'s Pipeline for all opportunities.

Collaboration with the marketing team and business development managers.

Support in defining win themes and pre-propositioning activities for successful pursuits through regular client meetings and strategic planning.

Assist with technical proposal writing.

Technical oversight of the proposal process including hands-on participation with fee and schedule negotiations.

Leadership and support in identifying key teaming partners, assisting in the development of the overall project delivery team, and collaboration with other Business Centers and geographies in expanding Stantec\'s market share.

General Stantec Transportation Group Promotion

Responsibilities will be undertaken in collaboration with the local/regional leadership to assist with increasing the Stantec branding and market recognition as a transportation industry leader. Responsibilities will include:

Increase Stantec\'s industry profile through regular interaction with potential clients and other consultants as well as participation in industry organizations, such as AAAE, ACI, ASCE, ACEC, WTS, and other relevant regional or national organizations.

Identify and track potential projects and teaming opportunities for Conventional Design, PMCM, CMGC, CMAR, and other design/build oversight opportunities through strong client liaison and working with key teaming partners.

Identify at least one additional airport client that will be your responsibility to generate new business based on a strategic account management plan identified during the strategic planning process.

Become Client Manager or Airport Client Manager for key airport clients such as California Airport Authorities, Counties, and Cities as part of the overall strategic planning process.

Collaborate and coordinate with the Stantec Innovation Team and Buildings Business Line leadership to assist with increasing our market presence throughout the geographic region.

Identify potential key hires and assist in the hiring and interview process.

Team Management Responsibilities

Assess the existing condition of the airport infrastructure group for the California area of the Pacific Region and create a plan for building a project delivery team consisting of a PM level candidate and Project Engineer(s).

As part of the growth and transition period for airports in California, this position may require stepping into certain roles not currently being filled by others.

Serve as the eventual direct supervisor of 5-10 Senior to Mid-Level Airport Infrastructure staff in the associated disciplines. Provide input into the employee Performance Review, and Compensation and Bonus processes for direct reports.

Provide support and leadership throughout the Region in support of a \xe2\x80\x9czero safety incident\xe2\x80\x9d culture.

Encourage cooperation, collaboration, and sharing of skills and workload between transportation staff located in various Transportation Practice Area Business Centers across the company and in other practice areas, where considered appropriate (Southern California, Northern California, Nevada, Hawaii, Alaska, Oregon, and Washington).

Project Management

The position will interface with the client and project team, manage key staff, manage contract risk, and assist with the review of technical documents and project deliverables to meet the needs of the overall success of a project. Potential roles on projects could include Project Director, Project Principal, Subject Matter

Expert, Task Manager, or Project Manager for Airport Infrastructure assignments.

General oversight and assistance to the Business Center Practice Leader and Business Center Operating Leader with particular attention to schedule and budget issues for projects identified, especially those that are problematic.

Lead efforts to continue improvements in QA/QC processes and fostering a culture of being cost effective and thorough in delivering projects. Assist with formal project reviews of large or complex transportation projects monthly to identify and mitigate potential risks.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or a related degree

Minimum of 15 years of experience

Registered Professional Engineer

Typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $132,000 - $198,000 (CA, CO, WA locations only)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
