Veterinary Patient Care Attendant - Overnight



This is an mid-level animal care and husbandry position. This position requires a strong love of pets and attention to detail. The Patient Care Attendant must work in conjunction with the doctors and day technicians to provide a high quality of care. The majority of time is spent caring for our boarders and hospitalized patients by exercising, feeding and ensuring the needs of the pets in our care are being met. The PCA monitors hospitalized patient conditions and reports to our medical staff throughout the shift. The position also includes extensive husbandry cleaning duties for all areas of the hospital.

: 3 nights on 4 nights off.

Duties:



Ensure hospital supplies are stocked Provide water bowls and meals to patients and boarders Provide medications to patients; mark and maintain vitals on treatment sheets Obtain client feedback including special pet handling requirements Speak to clients regarding updates on their pets while in our care. Ensures pet's medical records are current, updated and noted on applicable cage cards and in the patients chart through our PMS. Partner with practice manager and supervisors to meet and exceed the customer's service expectations. Maintain the cleanliness of the hospital, including cleaning/mopping/disinfecting exam rooms, hallways and all other areas assigned; trash removal, removal of biohazardous wastes as well as cleaning up urine, feces, vomit and other bodily fluids, as needed. Restock wards, treatment areas and workrooms with appropriate supplies. Provide animals with a clean and comfortable environment, which includes cleaning and disinfecting cages, provide animals with correct diets as ordered by clinician. Walk patients outside and collect urine/fecal samples as needed; record fecal/urine discharges, vomiting, appetite characteristics and overall appearance of the patient on treatment sheets. Strict adherence and enforcement of hospital infection control policies is required. Dependability is essential.

What we need from you:



HS Diploma with demonstrated leadership skills; experience working with animals as well as experience in housekeeping/custodial work or equivalent combination of education and experience. As this is a physically demanding position, Patient Care Attendants must have the ability to move/lift animals that may exceed 50lbs or more; have the ability to stand for extended periods of time, as well as the ability to kneel and remain in a steady position during procedures or treatment of animals. . Must develop and maintain excellent working relationships including communicating with a diverse staff of DVM, technicians, as well as with clients, in a professional manner at all times. Maintain calm demeanor during emergent situations; respond effectively to various personalities and sense when someone is in distress; demonstrate sincere compassion. Basic computer and technical skills and the ability to learn the electronic medical record and other software programs.

Preferred Qualifications:



Experience working in an animal care facility working with companion animals Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology, veterinary medicine, medical records

RAC- Hillcrest, provides care to patients 24/7. The primary schedule for this position is 3 day on and 4 days off. If business needs change, a position/individual may be realigned within RAC to a different shift or schedule
