Job Description

Abacus Technology is seeking an Outside Plant Technician to install, remove, and relocate common telephone systems equipment in support of Base Telecommunications System (BTS) for Nellis and Creech Communications Squadrons. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

Locate and mark OSP infrastructure for permit requests. Support the implementation of Outside Plant (OSP) copper and fiber optic cabling systems for voice, data and video on customer premises. Review, understand, and execute project proposals/quotations/work orders, personnel requirements, equipment and cabling specifications, material management, tooling and transportation requirements for assigned project(s). Perform site survey(s) as directed by management. Provide "as built" documentation used to identify all materials, labor, equipment and tooling used on projects, invoice customer, show proof of satisfactory completion of project and provide or update final "formal" documentation as required by the project specifications. Ensure assigned projects are completed on time, within budget and to industry standards.

Qualifications

3+ years experience in outside plant support including installation of telephone systems equipment and cabling plant. Experience with fiber optic test and splicing equipment, winch equipment, copper TDR test equipment and 3M/710 copper 25pr splice rig equipment, and placement up to 2100 pr OSP copper cable and 144 strand fiber. Able to troubleshoot existing OSP infrastructure (fiber and copper faults). Ability to run OSP equipment such as trencher, backhoe, and loader is desired. Must be a US citizen.
