ORTHOPEDIC TECH (CAST TECH) - Central Indiana Orthopedics

The Cast Technician will interact with patients and administer casting, splinting, brace-fitting, and strapping applications as directed by Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant. This individual will provide information and education to the patient regarding the application and self-care instructions.

• Assists and prepares patients for application, including explaining the process to the patient, putting the patient at ease with required application, and educating patients and families regarding care instructions.
• Administers general casting, splinting, brace-fitting, and strapping applications as necessary in accordance with physician/provider directives.
• Maintains a flexible work schedule around patient volume and physician/provider needs, ensuring an efficient patient flow and experience.
• Enters application details in patient record and ensures all information entered into patient record is up-to-date and accurate.
• Expertly uses and maintains applicable equipment such as cast saw, autoclave, etc., ensuring equipment is in working order or notifying supervisor of issues.
• Maintains and ensures a clean and stocked cast rooms.
• Assists the Purchasing Coordinator by: monitoring supplies usage; preparing medical supplies needed; providing a patient price list for use by all employees; evaluating inventory in storeroom and submitting orders for supplies and materials; and consulting with physicians and employees to determine the quality, effectiveness, and durability of items purchases.

Education, Experience and Certification/License Requirements
Minimum of high school diploma or GED required. Certification in casting specialty preferred. Minimum of two years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in clinical setting that administered casting, splinting, and custom brace fitting preferred.
