Organ Donation Coordinator

DonorConnect is seeking a full-time Organ Donation Coordinator - Idaho Falls. As an Organ Donation Coordinator (ODC), you will be responsible for all aspects of organ recovery. These duties include completing on-call functions, responding to referrals, adhering to regulatory requirements, and completing documentation. The ODC is responsible for meeting donor family needs, donor management, and the allocation, recovery, preservation, packaging, and transportation of organs for research and transplant. Additionally, you will complete case follow-up tasks, referral and case documentation, personal expense reports, and other administrative tasks as necessary. Finally, the ODC will gain proficiency through experience and further self-directed learning while embodying DonorConnect\'s I CARE + values in and out of the critical care unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.

Training/Education/Certification:
  • Associate\'s degree in Nursing required, Bachelor\'s degree preferred and/or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
  • RN license
  • Completion of NATCO introductory course within one year of hire
  • Successful completion of CPTC after one year and before two years of hire
Experience Required:
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a critical care nurse
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the organ and tissue transplant fields
  • Understanding of the critical care environment
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software
  • Able to manage a brain-dead donor through independent critical thinking and problem solving, priority setting, and resourcefulness
  • Excellent public relations and interpersonal abilities
  • Solid oral and written communication skills
  • Attentive to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Able to work well with all levels of personnel in hospitals, and within the differing guidelines of each institution
  • Willingness to train and assist others
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to stoop, squat, or bend frequently
  • Exposure to patient elements including communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and other common hazards of a clinical setting
  • Ability to reason logically and make sound decisions, to consider alternative and diverse perspectives, to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
