We are seeking an experienced and friendly Optometry Receptionist/Technician/Optician to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care by assisting optometrists in various clinical and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optometry/ophthalmology, medical terminology, and experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. You will be responsible for ensuring a smooth workflow within the clinic while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Salary is dependent upon previous optometry/medical office experience and professional certifications.
Responsibilities
Assist optometrists during patient examinations and procedures
Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, and retinal imaging
Take and record vital signs accurately
Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper documentation of patient information
Educate patients on eye health, treatment options, and proper eyewear usage
Manage inventory of optical supplies and equipment
Provide support in retail sales of eyewear and contact lenses
Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques and clinic protocols
Collaborate with team members to enhance patient experience and clinic efficiency
Perform administration tasks and filing of patient's insurance plan
Answering phones, scheduling patient appointments, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
Knowledge of optometry/ophthalmology practices and procedures
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality
Laboratory experience is a plus, particularly in an optical or medical setting
Background in retail sales or retail management, including retail math skills
Understanding of physiology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology
Proficiency in medical coding and billing practices
Experience with EMR systems
Previous clinic experience or senior care involvement is beneficial
