to join our healthcare team in Northern Virginia. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive eye care services, including vision assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans. This role requires a strong foundation in optometry, patient care, and medical record management, with a focus on delivering exceptional service to a diverse patient population. The Optometrist will work within a collaborative environment utilizing advanced EMR and EHR systems to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
Duties
Conduct thorough eye examinations, including visual acuity testing and refraction assessments
Diagnose and manage ocular conditions, utilizing knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology
Prescribe corrective lenses and other treatments based on patient needs
Provide patient education on eye health, preventive care, and treatment options
Maintain detailed and accurate medical records using EMR/EHR systems in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
Perform vital signs measurements and assess overall health as part of comprehensive patient evaluations
Utilize aseptic techniques during examinations and procedures to ensure patient safety
Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals for complex cases or specialized care
Assist in sales of optical products and frame selections while maintaining excellent customer service standards
Stay current with advancements in ophthalmology, optical technology, and medical coding practices
Requirements
Valid Virginia state licensure as an Optometrist with current certification to practice medicine in the region or the ability to obtain a state license in the near future
Experience in practicing optometry preferred but also OK for a new grad to apply;
Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to eye health
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and medical coding procedures
Excellent patient care skills with a focus on customer service and communication
Ability to perform comprehensive eye exams, including assessing vital signs and using aseptic techniques
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
Ability to work effectively within a team environment while managing multiple patient appointments efficiently
