Duties
Conduct thorough eye examinations using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques
Prescribe corrective lenses, contact lenses, and medications as needed
Diagnose and manage ocular diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration
Provide pediatric eye care, including vision screenings and treatment plans tailored for children
Educate patients on eye health, safety, and preventive measures
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR/EHR systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Perform vital signs assessments when necessary and monitor patient health status during visits
Utilize medical terminology effectively for documentation and communication with patients and healthcare teams
Follow aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment during examinations and procedures
Engage in patient care activities that enhance customer service experience and foster trust
Assist with medical coding for billing purposes and ensure proper documentation for insurance claims
Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with ophthalmology advancements and best practices
Requirements
Valid state licensure as an Optometrist with current certification to practice medicine in the designated location
Strong knowledge of ophthalmology, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to eye health
Experience with optical equipment, EMR/EHR systems, and medical records management
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
Experience working with pediatric patients is preferred but not required
Excellent patient care skills combined with strong customer service orientation
Ability to interpret vital signs and perform comprehensive eye assessments accurately
Knowledge of medical coding procedures relevant to optometry services
Commitment to maintaining a sterile environment through proper aseptic techniques
