Overview



We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Optometric Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care within our practice. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of clinical procedures related to eye care. The Optometric Technician will assist in various clinical tasks, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and comfort.

Duties



Conduct patient intake by gathering medical history and performing preliminary assessments. Assist optometrists during comprehensive eye examinations and contact lens fittings. Perform diagnostic tests such as visual acuity tests, autorefraction, tonometry, retinal imaging, and visual field testing. Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring confidentiality and compliance. Provide education to patients regarding their eye health, eyewear options, and contact lens care. Collaborate with reception and optical staff to manage appointments and address patient inquiries. Support clinic operations by maintaining equipment, managing inventory, and ensuring a clean work environment. Assist with pre-testing procedures and chart preparation for optometric examinations.

Skills



Strong background in patient care with an emphasis on optometry. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to eye health and vision. Familiarity with medical coding and billing practices is a plus. Ability to perform accurate refractions is a plus. Proficient in using EMR/EHR systems for accurate record keeping. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including pediatrics. Ability to work collaboratively within a medical office environment while adhering to HIPAA guidelines. Previous experience in optometry or ophthalmology clinic settings is preferred but not required. Certified Paraoptometric (CPO) or willingness to obtain certification is preferred.

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 40 per week
