Job Summary


We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the optometric practice by performing various clinical and administrative tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. The Optometric Technician will assist in patient intake, perform vital sign assessments, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities



Conduct patient intake procedures, including gathering medical history and current health information. Measure and record vital signs to assist in patient assessments. Utilize aseptic techniques to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients. Assist optometrists during examinations by preparing equipment and ensuring all necessary tools are available. Provide education to patients regarding eye care, procedures, and the use of optical devices. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using EMR systems such as Epic. Support front desk operations including scheduling appointments and managing patient inquiries. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient clinic operations. Assist with retail sales of eyewear and optical products, utilizing retail math skills for transactions. Stay updated on ophthalmology practices, optical technology, and advancements in patient care.

Requirements



Previous experience in a medical office setting or clinic is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and HIPAA regulations is essential. Experience with EMR systems; familiarity with Epic is a plus. Strong patient care skills with an emphasis on empathy and communication. Ability to perform basic medical coding and billing tasks is advantageous. Retail sales experience is beneficial for assisting patients with eyewear selections. Understanding of pediatric care principles is a plus for working with younger patients. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining medical records. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
