The Optimal Solutions Planner is responsible for developing and adjusting fleet load plans to maximize efficiency, service quality, and profitability. This role utilizes advanced planning tools and data analysis to make real-time decisions, balance operational costs with service commitments, and support on-time delivery. The planner collaborates closely with fleet specialists, driver managers, and customer service to ensure seamless execution and continuous improvement in transportation performance.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Optimize fleet load assignments to maximize efficiency, service, and profitability
Build and adjust fleet load plans based on capacity, freight demand, and availability
Utilize fleet optimization technology to support decision making and scenario planning
Consistently balance service commitments with operational costs
Collaborate with fleet specialists, driver managers, and customer service to execute on time deliveries
Consistently monitor plan performance and make real-time adjustments
Review historical load, route, and performance data to identify patterns and improve future planning
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, cost per mile, and efficiency
Identify inefficiencies in planning processes and propose solutions
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree - preferred
5+ years transportation experience
Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and fleet optimization software preferred
Understanding of Hours of Service (HOS) regulations preferred
Familiarity with GPS tracking and telematics systems preferred
Knowledge of company policies and procedures preferred
$60,000-$67,500 depending on experience.
Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, trip rates, and employee referral bonuses. A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
