Position Overview

We are seeking a

Part-Time Optician / Optical Assistant

who is experienced, detail-oriented, and enjoys providing an outstanding patient experience. This position involves both

optical dispensing

and

front desk/clinical support

. The ideal candidate has strong optical knowledge and can confidently assist patients from start to finish.

Responsibilities

Assist patients with frame and lens selection based on prescription, lifestyle, and visual needs Perform

frame fitting and adjustments

, including custom progressive, computer, and specialty lenses Conduct

repairs and adjustments

to ensure proper fit and comfort Perform

pre-testing

before exams (auto-refraction, retinal imaging, etc.)

Verify vision insurance benefits

(VSP, EyeMed, etc.) and provide accurate cost breakdowns

Answer phone calls

, schedule appointments, and assist with patient check-in/out Place, verify, and track optical and contact lens orders Maintain frame displays, inventory, and a clean, organized optical area

Requirements

Minimum 1 year of experience

in the optical or optometry industry

Knowledge of frame fitting

including progressive, computer, and specialty lenses Skilled in

repairs and frame adjustments

Proficient in

vision insurance verification

(VSP, EyeMed, etc.) Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills Professional, reliable, and patient-focused demeanor Ability to work well independently and as part of a small team
