We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will assist patients with selecting eyewear, perform optical measurements, and support clinical staff in delivering exceptional eye care services. This role requires a strong understanding of optometry, medical terminology, and retail sales, with a focus on providing personalized patient experiences. Experience with EMR systems, optical equipment, and laboratory procedures is highly valued. The Optician will play a vital role in ensuring accurate documentation, patient satisfaction, and efficient clinic operations.
Responsibilities
Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses based on prescriptions and personal preferences
Take precise measurements for lens fitting, including pupillary distance and frame adjustments
Maintain accurate records of eyeglass prescription and orders using EMR systems
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
Perform laboratory tasks such as frame adjustments to ensure quality standards are met
Educate patients on proper eyewear care, and glasses wear
Support retail sales efforts by promoting eyewear products and accessories effectively
Adhere to aseptic techniques during any clinical procedures involving ocular measurements
Assist in managing inventory of optical supplies and maintaining a clean, organized work environment
Experience
Previous experience in ophthalmology or optometry clinics is preferred
Laboratory experience related to lens fabrication or fitting is advantageous
Retail sales experience, particularly in optical or healthcare settings, is beneficial
Knowledge of medical billing, coding, and medical records management is a plus
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms is desirable
Understanding of medical terminology related to ophthalmology, pediatrics, enhances performance in this role
Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics and senior care is valued
