Duties



Greet patients warmly and assist them in selecting eyeglasses or other optical devices based on their needs and prescriptions. Take precise measurements of patients' pupillary distance, frame fitting, and lens prescriptions using specialized optical equipment. Conduct laboratory tasks including lens edging, mounting, and quality checks to ensure accurate optical prescriptions. Maintain detailed medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality. Assist with medical billing and coding processes related to optical services, ensuring accurate documentation for insurance claims. Educate patients on proper contact lens care, eye health maintenance, and the importance of regular eye exams. Manage retail sales of eyewear products by applying retail math principles, upselling suitable frames or lenses, and providing excellent customer service. Support clinic operations by maintaining aseptic techniques during equipment handling and ensuring a clean, organized work environment. Stay updated on advances in optometry practices, physiology knowledge related to vision health, and new optical products or technologies.

Experience



Previous experience working as an optician or in an optical retail environment is highly preferred. Strong understanding of optometry principles, anatomy of the eye, and physiology related to vision correction. Familiarity with EMR systems such as MVE or similar platforms used in clinical settings. Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to eye care and general healthcare practices. Experience with laboratory procedures involving lenses and frames is advantageous. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations including pediatrics and seniors requiring specialized care. Demonstrated competence in retail sales techniques, retail math calculations, and customer service excellence. Basic understanding of medical billing processes and medical coding standards related to optical services. Comfort working within HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Base Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 38 per week
