Job Overview


We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Optical Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for crafting, inspecting, and finishing high-quality optical lenses and frames to meet precise specifications. Your expertise will ensure that every pair of glasses provides optimal vision correction and comfort for our customers. We require 4 weekend days a month! Every other weekend, every Saturday or Every weekend.

Duties



Fabricate and finish optical lenses using various laboratory techniques, including grinding, polishing, edging, and coating to produce accurate prescriptions. Operate and maintain CNC (Computer Numerical Control) lathes and other precision machinery to ensure consistent lens quality. Conduct thorough inspections of finished lenses for defects, adherence to specifications, and overall quality assurance in compliance with ISO 13485 standards. Manage laboratory workflows efficiently by prioritizing orders, tracking progress, and maintaining detailed records of all processes. Follow established laboratory procedures and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy. Collaborate with opticians and sales teams to verify prescriptions, discuss customizations, and ensure customer satisfaction. Maintain cleanliness and organization within the laboratory environment to support optimal operations and compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications



Proven experience in an optical laboratory or related field, with a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and techniques. Knowledge of ophthalmology principles, including anatomy of the eye, physiology, and how they relate to lens fabrication. Familiarity with ISO 13485 standards for medical device manufacturing and quality assurance practices. Hands-on experience operating CNC lathe machines or similar precision equipment used in optical lens production. Strong attention to detail with excellent manual dexterity for handling delicate materials and components. Ability to interpret prescriptions accurately and translate them into precise lens specifications. Retail sales experience is a plus, especially in customer service environments related to eyewear or optometry. Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.0 - 40.0 per week
