Job Overview


We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our dynamic eye care team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in ophthalmology, patient care, and medical office operations, along with a strong commitment to delivering outstanding service to both patients and providers. In this role, you will be essential in supporting patient evaluations, performing diagnostic testing, and accurately documenting clinical information while upholding healthcare standards and fostering a welcoming, patient-focused environment. Duties



Greet patients, verify information, and prepare them for examination. Record and update medical and ocular history, including medications and allergies. Measure and document visual acuity using standardized testing methods. Perform preliminary ophthalmic evaluations such as tonometry, visual fields, refraction checks, and pupil assessments. Conduct diagnostic testing including OCT, fundus photography, topography, IOL master measurements, and fluorescein angiography (if trained). Assist the physician with in-office procedures, injections, and minor surgical tasks as directed. Administer eye drops and ophthalmic medications under physician supervision. Prepare examination rooms by ensuring necessary instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and calibrated. Maintain accurate and timely documentation within electronic health records (EHR/EMR systems). Educate patients on procedures, postoperative instructions, and general eye care. Support patient flow by efficiently coordinating rooming, testing, and physician schedule needs. Follow strict infection control and safety protocols. Assist in inventory management by monitoring and stocking exam rooms and procedure areas. Troubleshoot and maintain ophthalmic equipment as needed. Collaborate with physicians, optometrists, and clinical staff to deliver high-quality patient care. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all regulatory guidelines.

Experience



Clinical ophthalmology experience

in an eye care practice, ophthalmology clinic, or optometry setting.

Hands-on experience performing diagnostic tests

, such as: Visual acuity testing Tonometry Visual fields (Humphrey or similar) OCT imaging Fundus photography Corneal topography Biometry/IOL Master measurements

Familiarity with ophthalmic procedures

, including assisting providers during minor in-office procedures or injections.

Understanding of refractive assessments

, including autorefraction and lensometry.

Knowledge of ocular anatomy, common eye diseases, and basic pathophysiology.

Experience with sterilization and infection control protocols

, especially with ophthalmic instruments.

Comfort working in a fast-paced clinical environment

with strong multitasking skills.

Customer service or patient-facing experience

, demonstrating professionalism and empathy.

Knowledge of medical terminology and documentation accuracy.

Ability to work effectively in a team

and follow physician instructions closely.
Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
