Job Description

About the position:

We are looking for an individual to run daily operations at a media transfer business located on the Square in Fayetteville. This individual would oversee all daily operations as well as most communication with customers. Customer interactions average around up to 5 walk-ins throughout the day, and up to 5 calls inquiring about our services. This individual must display an ability for genuine and superb customer service as that is the core of this business. An ability to multitask and problem-solve is key, and at least some proficiency in computers is required. Bonus if you have experience with old media equipment such as VHS players, cassette players, turntables, etc.

This is a contract labor position, with starting pay at $16. Operating hours are 10:00 to 5:30 Monday through Friday. The shop doesn't close for lunch, so lunch breaks have to be onsite, but are paid. As part of the position, we are offering 5 days PTO throughout the year, once the individual passes the 90 days probation period.

Because the training on equipment and processes is a large investment on our part, we are definitely looking for someone who wants to stay with us for a while.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensuring friendly customer service interactions at all times Keep customer projects organized Carry out all media transfer duties in timely manner Multitask between multiple ongoing projects happening at one time Managing timelines for time sensitive work Conduct QA checks on jobs to ensure work is to customer's standards Problem solve one-off situations that may arise while transferring old media formats to digital Invoice creations at job completion

About the Company:

Nu Fangled Images has been in business for 15 years, and has served thousands of local and regional customers in their endeavor to archive old media formats to digital. This is a very laid back environment where the work really matters to customers who entrust us with the home movies, photos, or reels. These are the items that they'd run back into the house for if it was on fire, so we treat them like they're ours.

This has proven to be incredibly rewarding work. It's not uncommon for customers to profusely thank you for the work you're doing for them, or to shed a few tears as they recount their loved one that just passed and whose 8mm reels they just found in their closet. On a daily basis you are transported into another time as you scan slides from the 50's, record audio from a vinyl record created in a small booth somewhere, or transfer someone's original 8mm footage of President Kennedy waving to a crowd from a campaign stage.

A day in the life of this position might look like:

Opening up the shop at 10:00, putting on some music, catching up where you left off the day before, and going back to the important work of media preservation. Switching out home movie tapes that are transferring to digital, while recording a vinyl record, and scanning slides. As customers come in throughout the day, giving your undivided attention while talking through their order or any questions they have. Later in the day, wrapping up some jobs, creating an invoice and calling the customer to let them know their 8mm reels are loaded up on a flash drive and ready to go. At 5:30, shutting down the equipment, and locking the shop up.
