Job Description

Job Summary:

Operator II is responsible for leading their line to execute the needed production run. This position performs all machine-specific functions for one to two lines such as configuring the equipment, loading, and operating the machines, and optimizing the machine capability. They must ensure that the machine is working at full capacity, producing quality products at a high yield with an understanding of proper escalation channels when necessary. They should be self-starters and willing to undergo training, if need be, to understand the operations of new equipment. Responsible for all documents and procedures required for this function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

An Operator II is expected to perform one or more of the following essential job functions based on the business assignment (detailed):

Responsible party in supporting the food safety culture of the company. Operate production equipment safely and efficiently; inspect the product for defects and pack the product in the correct configuration. Performs quality checks, ensures correct counts on various product sizes, and packs into the appropriate packaging. Makes machine adjustments according to process documentation to minimize interruptions, ensure a quality product, and ensure efficient equipment operation. Replacement of adhesive tape in hand tapers and automatic sealing machinery. Ensure that any finished goods or work-in-progress identification labels are present and placed correctly. Stacks finished product in the correct configuration, ready for transportation. Promptly inform the Production Lead of any issues concerning health and safety, hygiene, quality, and production efficiencies. Follows all Company established rules and policies; Adheres to all safety rules, quality standards, process documentation, and regulations. Completes paperwork accurately and on time. Inspects equipment before use to ensure proper setup and alignment; perform basic and routine adjustments and maintenance. Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area. Responsible for actively supporting the other members of the employee's work team including assisting with cross-training, new-hire/mentoring assignments, and process support during breaks, meal periods, and other staff coverage as needed. It will be required to Operate lines or to provide support for breaks and lunch for all other operators. Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Abilities / Qualifications:

Positive attitude, work ethic, and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management and coworkers. Ability to follow directions and work well in a team. Must be able to understand and follow oral and/or written instructions in English and/or Spanish. Must be able to work 6 or more consecutive days including overtime, any shift, including late nights, weekends, and holidays. Capable of lifting 55 pounds unassisted. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations. Able to perform the daily task in at least 2 different products or lines with partial supervision.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience:

Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent educational experience; vocational school or trade apprenticeships is a plus. Attention to detail. At least one continuous year of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or industrial environment is required.
Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
