Position Summary



The Delaware Art Museum is seeking an Operations Technician who plays a key role in ensuring that the Delaware Art Museum provides a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all visitors, staff, and artists. Working as part of the Operations team, this position supports the day-to-day upkeep and smooth functioning of the Museum's physical spaces, contributing directly to an exceptional visitor experience. This is a full-time non-exempt position reporting to the Operations Lead.

Key Responsibilities



The Operations Technician will:

Support the maintenance and safety of all Museum facilities, including interior and exterior spaces, with a focus on public areas and galleries. Perform routine maintenance tasks, coordinating with Operations personnel. Review all assigned systems to ensure full functionality. Monitor and alert when mechanical systems throughout the building are not functional. Provide event support, including the setup and breakdown of equipment for programs, rentals, and special events (e.g., tables, chairs, tents, stages, audio-visual equipment, and catering areas). Maintain all inventory including custodial supplies and equipment, ensuring proper storage, upkeep, and readiness for use. Assist other departments with operational and maintenance needs as requested. Perform minor electrical and plumbing repairs and support the Operations Team with troubleshooting as needed. Help maintain compliance with all safety and inspection standards and Museum best operating practices. Be available for a flexible schedule that may include weekends, holidays, and occasional on-call support.

Qualifications



2 years' experience in facilities, custodial services, or building maintenance preferred, with an ability to learn current best museum practices and safety standards.

Experience working with floor cleaning machinery.

Basic knowledge of plumbing and HVAC, general handyman skills.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and presentation.

Solid organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Motivated, reliable, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Effective communication skills.

Professional discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.

A positive, team-oriented attitude with flexibility, initiative, and a sense of humor.

Compensation and Benefits
