Job Description

Samtec's Wilsonville, Oregon cable production site has an opening for an individual with experience in planning and scheduling in manufacturing. This is an hourly position, reporting to the Production Manager. Schedule is Monday-Friday day shift, 8 hours per day. Applications due November 23, 2025.

Summary/Objective:

The Operations Support Specialist (OSS) will be responsible for the material flow in the production work centers and will coordinate and communicate to cross functional sections, upstream and downstream production work centers to manage the order flow until customer delivery.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:

Review the open order regularly, manage and prioritize it according to Samtec Golden Rule. Schedule and plan the order by using Schedule Dashboard or any other equivalent tool to meet the MDD (Manufacturing Due Date) by ensuring the material, people and machine capacity availability. Look for the opportunity to batch the order to have minimum change over without compromising due date. Communicate and coordinate with production supervisors to ensure smooth execution according to the plan. Monitor, manage and follow through (physically locate) the orders to ensure it flows through the processes and is on track to meet the MDD. Proactively work with relevant party to address the potential issue to avoid any Past Due. Report back to Production Manager timely when foresee or there is any risk that may miss the order. Follow up with material planner or upstream process on material requirement for orders. Drive OTD improvement to achieve the target by working with relevant party to close the gap like material availability, machine downtime, insufficient lead time etc. Ensure correct reschedule code is entered together with realistic date for any order that is past due in a timely fashion. Responsible to inform appropriate departments especially the downstream process / work center of orders that deviate from schedule so that opportunities of recovery can be explored. Utilize reports to proactively manage large orders (example Daily Order Report and Pocket Report) to meet the MDD. Be the back-up supervisor during the absence of a supervisor including but not limited to: Pass down, order traceability, expedites, dashboard, and personnel assignments. Responsible for Pull-In material in a 7-day window or any other window set up by the Supervisor, update material comments according to the production plan, (review PO transactions, shipments due date, materials in transit), and expediting Planners when needed. Responsible for printing shop orders and create materials sessions, based on the window assigned by the supervisor, this when not using Auto request. Responsible to create parcel for parts that goes to Sudden Saving, when applicable. Responsible to follow up material arrival with shipment packing list and prioritize material needs on production floor

Required Experience:Minimum 3 years' experience in manufacturing is required. Connector manufacturing or similar experience is desired. Proficient with a wide variety of applications and data tools and learns new ones easily. Samtec uses: Samtec Global Network (SGN), Shop Floor Control, PC Man, Inventory Suite, Pocket Database etc. Excellent problem solving, investigation skills, detail orientation Must possess good communication skills - written and verbal. Must be able to use Microsoft Software (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access) Team player and must be able to work with multiple groups of people - Operators, Floor Mgr.'s, Engineers, etc. Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes,and not suffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs.

Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.

Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions:

Must be willing to adhere to department safety rules and regulations. May be exposed to noise (required to wear protective gear). May be exposed to Hazardous Materials & Chemicals (required to wear safety glasses and other protective gear).

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent is required. College education is preferred (not mandatory).
