Operations Supervisor

The Operations Supervisor oversees day-to-day grain elevator operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable handling of grain and facility activities. This role leads a small operations team, coordinates logistics, maintains equipment, and upholds high standards for safety, grain quality, and customer service. The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in a fast-paced agricultural environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Leadership

Supervise daily elevator operations including receiving, drying, grading, blending, and shipping of grain. Schedule and direct hourly staff, ensuring efficient workflow and proper coverage. Assist with hands-on tasks as needed, including equipment operation and facility upkeep.

SafetyCompliance

Enforce safety protocols, conduct regular inspections, and promote a safety-first culture. Ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, and company policies regarding grain handling, confined space entry, and PPE.

MaintenanceFacility Upkeep

Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs for equipment such as legs, conveyors, pits, dryers, and rolling stock. Work with vendors and contractors as needed for larger repairs or capital projects. Maintain clean, organized, and functional work areas.

InventoryQuality Control

Monitor grain condition, temperature, and storage integrity. Track inventory movement and assist with scale operations and documentation.

CustomerLogistics Coordination

Work with truck drivers and farmers to ensure smooth and timely load-in/load-out processes. Coordinate with transportation partners for outbound loads via truck and/or rail (if applicable). Other responsibilities as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred Prior experience in grain elevator, feed mill, or agricultural operations. Mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot equipment. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to work in outdoor and physically demanding conditions.

ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Able to lift 50 pounds and exert 20 pounds of force Able to wear respiratory protection Able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time as necessary Able to work in hot and cold conditions, both in an office environment and in the grain elevator Ascend and descend stairs throughout the facility Wear the required Personal Protection Equipment Other duties as assigned by role.
