OPERATIONS MANAGER - Marketplace

Reporting Relationship

The Operations Manager reports directly to the General Manager.



Responsibilities

People

Show dynamic leadership ability and motivate staff to exceed expectations of the customer and our client. Ensure your department's team is set with the operation in mind: hire & recruit for new talent, integrate new team members, supervise assigned personnel, evaluate performance, develop, coach, issue documentation, and manage employee exits. Builds & develops department's leadership team, pushing for innovative performance, leadership through positive coaching and challenging. Oversee training and integration of all staff according to the onsite handbook and set expectations by your guidance. Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment. Remain knowledgeable of and manages in accordance with applicable local, state and federal laws. Work directly with department managers in the execution of departmental programs, quality and daily oversight. Maintains a close relationship with the client's staff to ensure a positive working relationship. Uphold and demonstrate a complete understanding of company policies and procedures.

Operational Excellence

Perform the steps of SSA EXTRA Guest Service to ensure a memorable experience for every guest and client. Set expectations for department under EXTRA Guest Service. Ensure all cash handling procedures are always in effect. Troubleshoot and maintain POS/Kiosks functionality for daily operation or as necessary. Prepare and serve a full range of coffee and espresso drinks with consistency and quality standards. Assemble and stock grab-and-go coolers and merchandise food counters. Assist with bussing tables and discarding trash. Produces and executes all culinary offerings from salads and sandwiches, along with operating the TurboChef oven to heat and finish flatbreads and other quick-serve menu items. Maintain a clean, organized cafe space while following food safety and sanitation guidelines. Maintains quality and facility cleanliness in the store, cafe, and all retail displays. Build, implement, and drive operational systems, processes, and policies in support of organizations mission, business needs, client & SSA expectations. Assumes an active role in upcoming season planning for food/retail concepts, equipment needs and operational excellence. Responsible for the day-to-day functions of all food & Retail services and programs. With specific focus to front of house operations. Work with all managers on established maintenance scheduled in conjunction with manufacturer's instructions for all equipment, provides safety training in lifting, carrying, hazardous material control, chemical control and basic first aid. Facilitate the maintenance and repairs of facilities and equipment. Support all Operations in all operational functions of the Departments, inclusive of inventory process as set by business standard. Process invoices so that all vendors are paid within terms. Ensure overall consistency and high quality across the various operations; plan menus based on such factors as market trends, customer preferences and nutritional considerations. Ensure Safety training(s) is completed with all staff upon hire. Fulfill guest's needs quickly and efficiently as well as resolve complaints effectively. Support retail store/cafe leadership in management of all inventory control programs as necessary. Ensure all company merchandise presentation standards are met to maximize sales in the cafe and retail space. Complete daily department functions in reporting daily, weekly and monthly sales through an internal Ledger. Ensure sales are maximized through having the right product and communicating inventory opportunities to the General Manager. Ensure all cash handling procedures are adhered to and are in effect at all times. Issue EXTRA-Minute Meeting to team on daily basis. Receive and process product shipments into proper systems and set up products in store spaces. Forecast daily/weekly sales, complete and maintain sales analysis with respect to controllable costs for department and unit management. Support management of payroll and controllable profit within established budget. Analyze sales and inventory to maximize opportunities. Identify new ways to generate sales and achieve goals. Supports and helps oversee all headquarter (HQ) financial reporting and daily operations for the cash office. This includes, but is not limited to: Accurately counting down, reconciling, and recording all bank cash drawers and vaults at the start and end of each day Entering cash values into appropriate tracking systems and ensuring proper allocation of funds across accounts Processing and paying invoices timely to vendors and internal departments Creating new banks (cash drawers) as operational needs demand and maintaining the integrity of all banking records Completing and documenting weekly safe counts and ensuring funds are secured in accordance with established cash handling procedures Maintaining and reviewing PCI logs for accountability and compliance Providing support with the preparation, review, and submission of critical financial reports, including the Gross Sales Report, Over/Short/Funds Request (OFR), Trial Balance Reports, and Sales by Stand breakdowns Collaborating with finance and operations teams to resolve discrepancies, support audits, and implement process improvements Upholding internal controls and cash management best practices to safeguard company assets and deliver financial accuracy Ensures compliance with employment laws and company HR policies by overseeing critical People processes such as onboarding, I-9/E-verify, employee relations, workplace safety, time and attendance management, and performance documentation..

Growth

Support department financial forecasts, information flow and management, business processes and organization planning. Manages merchandising for consistency, impulse sales, and driving per cap. Process invoices to the office team, ensuring smooth communication so that all vendors are paid within terms. Manage payroll and controllable profit within established guidelines. Meet payroll budget percent expectations by being strategic with coverage, on-call shifts, etc. Schedule appropriate staff levels in accordance with budget and business forecast. Set precedent to achieve Sales, Per Cap & Controllable Budget.

Social Responsibility and Culture

Promote an inclusive & supportive approach at the Unit. Supports unit in being an example for Company & Client guidelines with regard to Sustainability/Conservation efforts. Displays knowledge of efforts in business application as well as giving adequate opportunity for teaching to unit staff as necessary. Supports SSA / Unit in driving community effort through hiring efforts, engagement activities, and focus on opportunities of giving back. Perform other tasks as deemed necessary.

Job Requirements



Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to articulate to our client, General Manager and HQ personnel. Proven leadership skills with an understanding of the importance of team building/development, while fostering partnerships. Exceptional problem solving/decision making skills combined with the ability to be organized. Demonstrates financial management, merchandising, analytical, planning and leadership skills. Demonstrates the ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced environment. Computer knowledge and skill level for basic office functions. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to move and handle boxes (35lbs) as necessary to operation, which entails lifting, and perform all functions as set forth above. Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.

Previous Experience



Two years Operations Manager experience dependent on sales, more years' experience may be applicable. ServSafe or Food Handling Certified. All education backgrounds eligible, must by 18 or older.

Compensation and Benefits

Full-Time, non-exempt. Eligible for overtime pay. Vacation or Time Away From Work (TAFW) plan: up to 144 hours based on tenure. Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and other voluntary benefits for you and your family; employee premiums applicable. Participation in a 401(k) program with a 15% company match (eligible after one year of employment). Up to 120 hours of Paid Leave for qualifying reasons including Parental Leave and yours or your families medical conditions. Up to 40 hours Paid Bereavement.
