Summary/Objective

The Operational Excellence Coordinator will assist with development and improvement of production, maintenance, and reliability processes with a focus on in the field operational excellence reviews and data usage/analysis/input within the operations. The position will require frequent travel throughout the Division.

  • Manage Divisional Operations and Maintenance Data.
  • Drive the implementation of continuous improvement for Operational Excellence. Monitor, report and communicate the progress.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor programs, projects, and processes.
  • Prioritize and implement key improvement opportunities though identification of waste, inefficiencies, key process failures and weaknesses through value streams.
  • Provide support in rational problem solving and performance improvement projects at all levels of the organization.
  • Identify, train and coach peers and possible subordinates.
  • Coordinate Operational Excellence training that develops competencies and organizational capabilities on World Class Operations.
  • Provide active support to develop and maintain the key process documentation in order to translate to standard operating procedures, guidelines and the sharing of best practices.
  • Understand basic concepts of Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE). Analyze the OEE and downtime data and translate this into useful reports for production and maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities for capital projects for process improvement and automation.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Work Environment

This job operates frequently in an operations environment in an underground and surface mine location. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position that may require long hours and weekend work.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • Two years relevant Engineering project experience
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certificate a plus
  • Strong Analytical Skills
  • Root Cause Analysis
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams
