The Operations & Event Manager (O&EM) oversees day-to-day operations at the Catamount Outdoor Family Center , including guest services and rental hub supervision; program and event coordination; customer relationship management; and administrative, human resources, and financial tasks that ensure the smooth, effective delivery of COFC's mission. This role blends operational leadership with hands-on coordination, staff management, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Administration
Oversee daily operations to ensure consistent policies and procedures, while upholding the Catamount Culture of inclusiveness, respect for each other and nature, outdoor education and healthy recreation.
Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise full-time and seasonal staff and volunteers, with support from the Executive Director (ED).
Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all areas of operation.
Ensure compliance with state policies, town ordinances, and foundational documents (including conservation easement, management plans, and lease agreements), in partnership with the ED.
Manage administrative systems, including POS, marketing, fundraising, and website platforms (Square, QuickBooks, Mailchimp, social media platforms, Google Workspace, WordPress, Little Green Light, Ultracamp are used).
Monitor operational inventory and reorder as needed.
Handle day-to-day banking, invoicing, and deposit runs.
Event & Program Management
Plan and coordinate new and existing year-round programs and events, including community programs, weekly outings and races, lessons, clinics, tours, SnowSchool, and summer camps.
Provide on-site leadership and coordinate with event hosts, town, vendors and volunteers.
Support the Race Director in running the weekly race series.
Lead on event and group visit logistics.
Oversee all program and event registration, marketing, general communications, and feedback assessments.
Lead programs and host events as needed.
Summer Camp Management
Recruit, hire, onboard, and train all camp staff (CITs through Leads) with support from the ED.
Serve as Summer Camp Co-Director and manage Ultracamp registration and accounts during the camp season.
Conduct mid- and end-of-season evaluations for all camp staff.
Lead all communication with camper families.
Step in to lead camps as needed.
Support ACA accreditation and compliance with the ED and Guest Experience Coordinator (GEC).
Marketing & Community Outreach
Maintain an annual event calendar across platforms (website, Facebook, Instagram, Front Porch Forum).
Develop marketing materials, newsletters, and social media content with the ED.
Promote COFC's brand, mission, and programs across online and community channels.
Build and maintain relationships with the Board of Directors (BOD), town committees, community partners and sponsors, businesses, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
Represent COFC at community events and public meetings as needed.
Bonus Skills: Financial & Strategic Support
Support budgeting, reporting, and strategic planning for the ED and BOD by pulling reports and keeping detailed records to inform long-term decision-making.
Assist with fundraising, sponsorships, and grant opportunities.
Secure race sponsorships and develop community partnerships with the ED and GEC.
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of experience in an outdoor leadership or recreation manager role.
Experience with summer camp programming and/or event management
Proven ability to manage multiple projects, staff, and volunteers simultaneously.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and customer service skills.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
Nonprofit or administration experience
Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
General naturalist or outdoor skills.
Familiarity with the local outdoor recreation community.
Experience with some of the following platforms: Google Workspace, Wordpress, Square, Mailchimp, QuickBooks, Canva, Little Green Light, Ultracamp, and social media platforms,
Fundraising and sponsorship development experience.
Knowledge of recreational management for summer and winter use.
