General Summary:




This position supports the daily operations of Hyland Hills Parks & Recreation District's facilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality experiences for guests, staff, and community members. This position provides hands-on operational coverage across multiple facilities, assists with scheduling and logistics, supports event and program operations, works within multiple Point of Sale systems, and acts as a key liaison between staff, vendors, and management. The Operations Coordinator helps uphold district standards while contributing to a positive, service-oriented environment.




Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Operational Support & Facility Coverage

Provide on-site operational coverage across designated enterprise facilities, ensuring readiness, cleanliness, safety, and compliance with district procedures. Serve as a point-of-contact for daily facility needs, including staff coverage, incident response, and customer concerns. Open and/or close facilities as assigned, following established protocols. Monitor facility usage, equipment, and conditions; coordinate maintenance work orders as needed.



Scheduling & Staff Coordination

Assist with staff scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage for programs, events, and daily operations. Support recruitment, onboarding, and training efforts for part-time and seasonal team members. Communicate operational updates, expectations, and procedures to staff regularly.



Event & Program Operations

Assist in the setup, execution, and teardown of programs, rentals, and special events. Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, partners, and the public to ensure smooth, high-quality event operations. Track operational needs and troubleshoot issues during events.



Administrative & Operational Logistics

Maintain accurate records related to scheduling, facility usage, inventory, and incident reports. Support operational planning, budgeting, and procurement of supplies and equipment. Assist with implementing policies, operational improvements, and safety procedures. Supports Point of Sale systems at various facilities for operational logistics.



Customer Service & Community Engagement

Provide excellent customer service to patrons, participants, and partners. Address inquiries, feedback, or concerns in a timely and professional manner. Promote district programs, services, and community standards.



Other Duties & Responsibilities:

Performs all functions in a guest service-oriented manner. Works periodically on special projects as assigned outside the context of regular facility operations, but for which the incumbent possesses the ability to perform adequately. Actively participates in professional organizations, as well as affiliated organizations, to expand knowledge and understanding of industry practices. Appropriately resolves concerns, problems, or emergencies that arise. Attends training sessions, workshops, staff meetings, and conferences, as necessary. Remains current with new strategies and technologies that could better the guest or team experience. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:



Proficient in common office productivity computer software. Ability to demonstrate strong public relations and communications skills. Ability to effectively train and lead staff to maintain a cohesive internal work environment. Ability to make sound decisions and use good judgment during stressful situations. Possess strong human resource skills, including the ability to work with a wide demographic personnel base. Ability to work autonomously and assume responsibility for initiative and completion of work. Ability to demonstrate strong skills for detail and accuracy. Excellent people management skills including resolving conflict, coaching, and developing others, promoting teamwork, and performance management.

Working Environment/Physical Activities:



Position sometimes requires the ability to lift, push and pull at least 50lbs and up to 100lbs. Hear emergency signal devices, hear voice calls for help or assistance, recognize dangerous situations from listening to crowd noises, and recognize odd or unusual sounds in standard machinery. Smell unusual odors generated by malfunctioning equipment or chemical reactions. Give and receive clear verbal instructions up to a distance of 200 feet. Climb and work at heights up to 50 feet. Work in different outdoor temperatures, extreme heat & cold. Stand and walk for long periods of time. Seasonal operations will likely include long hours, weekends, and holidays.



Education/Experience:



Bachelor's degree in business, recreation, or related field preferred but not required. Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity required, preferably in a waterpark or similar environment. Also requires a valid unrestricted State of Colorado driver license.
