Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse specialising in the Operating Room to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality perioperative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being throughout their surgical journey. This role offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic clinical environment, supporting surgical teams and contributing to positive patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for surgery by explaining procedures, ensuring informed consent, and assessing their physical and emotional readiness. Assist in the sterilisation and preparation of surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with hospital protocols. Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition during surgery, responding promptly to any changes or emergencies. Support the surgical team by passing instruments, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring all necessary supplies are available. Document patient information accurately in medical records, including intraoperative observations and interventions. Follow strict health and safety standards, including infection control procedures, to minimise risks within the operating theatre. Provide postoperative care instructions to patients and their families, ensuring a smooth recovery process.

Skills

Proven experience in patient care within an operating theatre setting or similar clinical environment. Strong knowledge of human anatomy relevant to surgical procedures and patient positioning. Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with multidisciplinary teams and provide compassionate patient support. Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond swiftly to emergency situations during surgery. Organised with meticulous attention to detail for documentation and equipment management. Demonstrated commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and confidentiality in accordance with healthcare regulations.
