One-on-one Special Education Aide/Paraprofessional

We are looking to welcome a patient and energetic paraprofessional educator to partner with a learner who thrives with one-to-one support, structured engagement, and opportunities for movement!

Performing all tasks that you may be asked to do is an important component of being a team member.
Schedule:
7:30-4pm Monday through Friday
Attend all administrative and staff meetings
Attend all community education and events to which you are assigned
Qualifications:
Required Before Hire:
High school diploma or GED
18 years or older
Experience working with children with exceptionalities
Positive attitude and critical thinking skills
Physically capable to work with children on the floor, stairs, and playground, as well as to lift/carry 100lbs, classroom furniture, and clean
A strong understanding of Education, child development, and positive classroom management techniques
Possess an attitude that reflects a belief in the philosophy of the IMA organization
Knowledge or experience in supporting students and families with mental health and behavioral needs
Knowledge or experience in special education processes and procedures
Required Within 90 Days:
CPR certification
Background Check and Fingerprinting
Health Report and TB test
Mandated Reporter Training of Child Abuse and Neglect and other necessary DPI and DCF trainings

Check out with the Heads of School at the end of each shift
Job Expectations
Supervise daily activities for the indoor and outdoor environments
Use careful observation to ensure children are safe at all times
Follow the direct line of communication in regards to concerns and complaints
Work with the Lead Guides, Cross Classroom Guides, and other Student Service Educators to create and implement a Montessori-first and Best Practices approach to Special Education interventions and lesson adaptations
Attend IEP, 504, and Child Study meetings, if requested
Assist in classroom transitions (indoor/outdoor time, lunch, etc.)
Depending on student need, this includes hygiene and toileting, grooming, lifting students, feeding(s), and changing students as necessary
Participate and document meaningful observations of classroom engagements and student work and upload to Transparent Classroom
Record all incidents and injuries in the classroom medical log/Transparent Classroom
Professional Development
All employees must complete Montessori Core Principles training by the end of their third year working at IMA(P)
Observe for 2 hours a year at another Montessori school if you do not attend the AMI Refresher Course
Attend all staff meetings and staff in-service trainings
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
